The Baseille Natural preserve
The state owned natural preserve of the Fagne of Basseille, not far from Laneuville-au-Bois, stretches along almost one kilometre on the right bank of a rivulet of the same name.It is a rather steep sided Ardenne dale where slightly over 10 acres (4 ha) have escaped the softwood planting practiced in the Ardenne since the middle of the last century. The site is therefore a witness of the typical landscape and vegetation at the bottom of the dales before the systematic afforestation.
