The Castle la Fraineuse

It was built by the architect Charles Etienne Soubre (1846 - 1915) in a neoclassical style. It served as the last residence of Kaiser Wilhelm II during the First World War before his abdication and exile to Holland. It was in this castle that the Spa Conference took place in 1920, a diplomatic conference dealing with the war reparations owed by the Germans. Since 1967, the site has housed a sports centre. The facades and roofs were classified as historical monuments in 1992.
