SPA 02 - Grande Duchesse (Rectangle Bleu)

Departure: Sol Cress

From Sol Cress, you enter the woods north of Spa via the Reickem promenade. You will pass by the recently refurbished Parcours Vita. You will reach the village of Marteau with its beautiful views. You then go back up to Spa along the Grande Duchesse promenade. It was completed in 1870 and bears the name of Elisabeth-Angélique de Montmorency-Bouteville (1627-1695), Duchess of Châtillon. A royal favourite, she was widowed in 1649. Mistress of the Duke of Nemours, then of Condé. She married the Duke of Mecklenburg Schwerin in 1664.
